The design of this alterations and additions project was undertaken by Sydesign with the prospect of much potential from the start. Located in a heritage conservation area in Sydney's eastern suburbs this terrace situated on a corner block had a natural charm and character that could only be embraced throughout the design process.
The heritage charm of the building was recaptured by reinstating the original front balcony whilst modern touches where made to the living space so as to bring in the much needed light and vitality to the home.
Light spills into the ground floor through an internal courtyard, whilst the small terrace still boasts two living rooms and three bedrooms through clever design and efficient planning. The terrace also contains a usable outdoor dining area as well a garage and small studio beneath.
All of this was achieved through a reiterative design process and working closely with Woollahra Council. This method enabled a toiling with innovative design ideas whilst maintain the essential characteristics of the terrace which made it a vital part of the heritage streetscape.
