Five Dock House 2

Five Dock House 2

Alterations and additions to existing dwelling house - Complying Development Certificate (CDC) - City of Canada Bay Council

This project incorporated a great collaboration between home owner and the team at Sydesign to craft a clever extension to an old house in Five Dock, embracing the garden. The brief indicated a desire for an attention to detail, an extension to the main living space, a solution for a guest/storage room and a new guest bathroom.

The design allows for a transition from the internal spaces through to the garden with a cohesive sequence of highly detailed and articulated spaces.

The project involved close coordination between the client and designers in the production of highly detailed fit-out drawings in order to achieve the finished result.

A timber and glass pavilion, which provides a new covered living area, sits on a sandstone podium which provides outlook through to the garden.

The living pavilion dissolves the sense of enclosure as one moves from the house into the garden. The new extension provides continuity and natural light, not previously present in the house.
